Tamara Eagles

Studio Director / Instructor

Tamara has always had a passion for dance. Her training began with ballet and gymnastics at the age of 3, then expanded to include character ballet, improvisation, pointe, lyrical, hip hop, tap, and figure skating. Her ballet training has included Cecchetti, Vaganova, RAD, and ISTD, and in figure skating she attained her gold level in Ice Dance and Interpretive.  She is thankful for her parents immersing her in social and line dancing from a very young age!

At 13, inspired by one of her teachers, Tamara knew she wanted to become a dance instructor. Two years later she embarked on her teaching career by teaching a few weekly classes within her church.

Throughout her teen years, Tamara attended workshops for hip hop, break-dance, flagging, rhythmic gymnastics ribbons, and stomp. During this time, she discovered a love for worship dance. She became part of the CJIL television dance team which broadcast to every continent except South America. Dancing for conferences, special events, and holiday features, Tamara soon became a co-leader of the CJIL dance team. In addition to the Station’s events, the team toured with dance workshops and performed at community events.

In 2007 Tamara aspired to open her own dance studio. By 2008 her family had joined in her vision and together they opened Expressions Dance.

Tamara certified with the Royal Academy of Dance where she thoroughly enjoyed her studies. The Intensive Study Period in Toronto at Canada’s National Ballet School, and the observing and teaching year with her course mentor and supervisor were highlights. Not long after acrobatic dance was created, Tamara certified with Acrobatic Arts. This captivating artistry of dance and gymnastics combined has become another area of passion and expertise in Tamara’s teaching repertoire.

Tamara enjoys teaching all ages, encouraging and inspiring her students in their passion for dance. She has a special love for teaching the little ones! She says, “The young ones are so pure and innocent. There is nothing more rewarding as a dance teacher than seeing their beaming faces as they run over to me each class, tiny hands and arms hugging me - and experiencing their wonder and excitement as they accomplish new things and discover what their precious little bodies can do! From toddler to adult and every age and stage in between, it is a joy to teach each of my students and foster a safe, fun place for them to grow, and provide professional instruction for them to develop in their technical and artistic abilities. I am honoured to journey with many long term students from little beginners to refined high level dancers."

Thriving on the challenge of creating successful, captivating choreographies, and developing precise technique and beautiful artistry, Tamara enjoys preparing students to be the best they can be in exams, competitions, and performances. It is important to her to stay current in the developments of dance. Many hours of professional development are spent each year for advancement as a teacher to offer her students quality instruction. Tamara has won many choreography awards and Adjudicator’s Choice awards and has been recognized for the technical level of excellence and evident love for dance displayed on the stage by her dancers. She has accompanied her groups to the Dance-Off finals of competitions. She is pleased for her students in receiving opportunities with scholarships, Dance for Disney, and Summit Opening Ceremonies Vancouver, just to name a few.

Tamara’s ultimate love is her family. Her husband, children, and her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ are priorities in her life.  She is also a huge animal lover! Other interests include time and fun with her family and friends, family vacations, dance parties, photography, art (pencil sketching, painting, scrap-booking), camping, quading, hiking, swimming, summer, cooking and baking.
