Our competitive program teaches teamwork, commitment, good sportsmanship, builds confidence and is overall a fun and memorable experience.   The competitive program goes more thoroughly into dance technique and there is a higher expectation for dancers at this level.

We participate in three competitions/festivals a year.  Two are in Lethbridge and one is out of town (usually somewhere in Alberta).  Expressions Dance carefully chooses each event to be sure that they all promote positivity and encouragement in dance.

All classes labelled (C) on our schedule are part of our competition program. Competitive classes require a strong level of commitment and dedication and a recommendation from an instructor is needed to register for these classes.  Participation in the competitive team occasionally requires extra practices outside of regular scheduled classes as well as active involvement from parents/guardians.  Ballet provides the technical foundation that all other dance styles are built on and is a requirement for any competitive class.

 

When a dancer or group has reached the technical skill level and emotional maturity needed for competitions we invite them to participate.  We always love to know if a dancer has a desire to join the competition team so that we can work together to reach that goal.
